Are Grey Gorillas Real? [Solved]
The sculptors had a blast coming up with their designs for the grays, since they were just made-up mutant gorillas. They could really let their imaginations run wild!
Appearance: Grey gorillas are the largest of the four gorilla species, with males reaching up to 6 feet tall and weighing up to 400 pounds. They have a distinctive silver-grey fur that covers their entire body, except for their face, hands, and feet which are black.
Habitat: Grey gorillas live in the tropical rainforests of Central Africa, primarily in Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. They inhabit lowland forests as well as mountain forests at elevations up to 8500 feet above sea level.
Diet: Grey gorillas are herbivores that feed on leaves, stems, roots and fruits found in their natural habitat. They also occasionally eat insects for additional protein sources.
Social Structure: Grey gorillas live in small family groups consisting of one dominant male (silverback), several females and their offspring (infants). The silverback is responsible for protecting his group from predators and other threats while also leading them to food sources throughout the day.
Conservation Status: Unfortunately grey gorillas are listed as critically endangered due to poaching and habitat destruction caused by human activities such as logging and mining operations within their range countries
